Halo-Halo in Tagaytay's cold weather. Good idea, huh?Up we went to Tagaytay City during the All Saints Day holiday. It wasn't really the super yummy halo-halo but to buy the Gugo Shampoo at the Maryridge Good Shepherd Convent. We've been up this peaceful place many times to buy bottled "sardined" Tawilis, Crispy Dulong, Cuchipan (that's kutsintang pandan), Ube, Angel Cookies, and a lot more goodies. Everything there tastes heavenly! :)
Of course, the halo-halo is a specialty together with the lumpiang ubod. But not this time. The weather so cold, I opted for a Kapeng Barako instead.
Besides the food, Good Shepherd Convent in Tagaytay City sells various designs of rosaries, religious articles and my old time favorite, the Gugo Shampoo -- which is ironically manufactured down in urban Quezon City. :)
We took a stroll and did some picture-taking at the back of the convent where there was a garden overlooking scenic Taal Lake. there's also this old kalesa where a small wooden table was fitted and turned it into a small kubo. Cats are welcome here. An orange and white feline actually guarded one of the small paths in the garden. The kids didn't dare disturb, lest they get a scary purr from this one. :)
In the middle of the lush garden is a Grotto of the Virgin Mary where lambs and a statue of a praying young lady surround her. Lots of flowers and greenery plus the cold breeze completes the oh-so-relaxing atmosphere.
Next time you're in Tagaytay, make sure to pass by Maryridge Good Shepherd Convent. Enjoy!
