Vizconde Massacre Update: Ex-PO1 Biong Released

It was the trial of the decade.

The son of a former senator, Hubert Webb, along with his "friends," were on trial for the murder of the Vizconde family: Estrellita (57), Carmela (19), and Jennifer (7) on June 30, 1991 at their BF Paranaque residence. The three were stabbed a couple of times while Carmela was raped. What made this case electrifying was the high-profile of the eventual convicts and the twists and turns of the case which until today, has left everyone following the massacre case guessing as to who the real killers were.

Gerardo Biong, the police officer convicted in the1991 massacre, was released on yesterday after spending 15 years in jail for a 12-year prison sentence as an accessory to the crime. Biong is now a preacher. In an interview with Ted Failon over DZMM this morning, Biong, who's now 60 years old, seems to have accepted his fate despite claiming innocence until today. His case is still up for reconsideration at the Supreme Court.

Biong was released along with 124 others following Justice Secretary Leila De Lima's signed endorsement. Biong was convicted of destroying physical evidence, including bloodied bed sheets, carpets, clothing and other items, that could have been used in investigating the killings of the Vizcondes.

The public is now awaiting the reportedly pending release of Hubert Webb. Apparently, the NBI lost the vital DNA sample of Carmela which could have made the difference between Webb's innocence or guilt.During the trial, Webb's defense panel showed a lot of evidence and brought many star witnesses that claimed he was in the United States at the time of the murders.

Abangan!
